As time passes many discover their need for a good quality walking instrument.  Often, the only canes available are those from your local medical supply house, made of aluminum and one size fits all as they are adjustable.

In all reality, a beautifully styled hand crafted walking instrument is an extension of your personality.  So why put forth an "adjustable aluminum" piece of pipe?  Go in style!  Extend an image of yourself every time you go out.

All of the canes offered here are hand crafted from woods from around the world.  Each cane is individually made from the finest woods including sassafras, hickory, sweet gum, iron bamboo and many other exotic and native trees.

Each walking cane is handcrafted in Central Texas not far from the Brazos River. Many of these walking canes are naturally harvested in the nearby woods of East Texas, Arkansas, and western Louisiana.

Before each custom cane is created the raw wood blank is carefully inspected for hidden weaknesses and only the raw blanks that show the highest strength are selected.  

Many of these canes rely upon a mortise and tenon handle construction. A mortise - a rectangle shaped hole - is cut with precision care into the handle. Then a matching tenon is shaped on the top of the cane shaft. The two pieces are fitted together which creates an extremely strong and durable finished product.

Each stick is then carefully cut to size, sanded, and sprayed with a protective clear coat lacquer. The resulting cane is lightweight, beautiful, and highly functional.

Each handle is attached to its shaft using a mortise and tenon joint.

The River Bend Walking Canes are shaped somewhat like one leg of the Brazos River.  The Brazos River, called the Rio de los Brazos de Dios by early Spanish explorers (translated as "The River of the Arms of God"). The Brazos is the longest river in Texas and the 11th longest river in the United States.

The River Bend canes are truly one-of-a-kind. Each piece of hardwood ash is carefully chosen and cut to its “river bend” pattern.  Then, worked on a router and sanded to a smooth perfection.  Finally, each staff is stained in one of several attractive colors, magnifying the natural beauty of the wood. After staining a protective clear coat lacquer is applied for lasting beauty.

The handles are attached to their corresponding shafts the all favorite mortise and tenon joint which provides unparalleled strength.
